FILLING THE GAP WHERE THE FUNDING STOPS.

For most public schools, nearly 90% of public funding goes toward operational costs like staff and teachers, leaving little room to address the broader nonacademic needs of students. In low-income communities, these limitations are magnified by barriers such as poverty, lack of access to healthcare, food insecurity, and unstable housing. The ripple effects—chronic absenteeism, behavioral challenges, and missed learning opportunities—often prevent students from reaching their full potential.

How does it work?

ALL4LOVE places site coordinators at each A4L Partner School campus, and along with collaborative partners including our national partner, Communities in Schools, we will:

1. Analyze the needs of the school and individual students

2. Develop a plan prioritizing academic and non-academic needs

3. Deliver support to the school, students and their families

4. Continuously monitor and adjust student and school progress

5. Assess partners and student support

The result? Proven success in student academic achievement, graduation rates and overall well-being.

Current Dorchester County Public School Sites

As a licensed Communities In Schools® (CIS) partner, ALL4LOVE is working alongside Dorchester County Public Schools to address one of the most significant barriers to student success: chronic absenteeism.

Through dedicated CIS Site Coordinators in five DCPS schools—Maces Lane Middle School, Cambridge-South Dorchester High School, North Dorchester High School, Sandy Hill Elementary School, and Hurlock Elementary School—we identify students experiencing or at risk of chronic absenteeism and connect them with individualized relationships, resources, and wraparound supports designed to help them show up, engage, and succeed.

Our work is built around measurable impact. DCPS has established a goal of reducing chronic absenteeism by one percentage point, representing approximately 45 students districtwide. ALL4LOVE is aligning our work with that goal while progressively expanding targeted CIS supports across our five partner schools—from a Year 1 stretch goal of 5% of school enrollment to 10% by Year 3.

But this work isn't simply about how many students we serve. It's about what happens because we serve them. We will measure improved attendance, students exiting chronic absenteeism, stronger academic and behavioral outcomes, and our overall fidelity to the CIS model.

Being Present Matters represents our belief that showing up can change the trajectory of a young person's life—and when students are present, supported, and connected, our schools and our entire community become stronger.
